Doctoral Positions and Project Scholarships at Friedrich Schlegel Graduate School of Literary Studies
The Friedrich Schlegel Graduate School of Literary Studies (FSGS) at Freie Universität Berlin was established as a part of the German Universities Excellence Initiative in 2007. FSGS promotes and supervises outstanding PhD projects in the field of Literary Studies analyzing texts of European and Non-European origin. The Graduate School strives for the advancement of genuine research perspectives of Literary Studies which cross single-language borders and challenge the technologies of globalization.
FSGS offers two different formats within the structural doctoral program: doctoral positions and project scholarships. the primary working language is German.
The online portal for applications will open on November 6, 2017.
The deadline for applications is December 15, 2017.
Up to 10 doctoral positions with a duration of three to four years will be awarded. The doctoral positions are coupled with a travel budget and allow for funding requests to be made to the school's board for academic events. All applicants must provide proof of financial support via a scholarship or academic post (by June 2018 at the latest). The doctoral studies program will begin on October 1, 2018.
Up to 6 project scholarships with a duration of 10 months will be awarded. The project scholarships support master's students in developing a doctoral dissertation expose with the goal of obtaining PhD funding. International students are strongly encouraged to apply. The project scholarships will begin in May/June of 2018.
